God is God: Civil Rights Is Not God

Let’s not be stupid. If it is against God it is against mankind. “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness…” (Romans: 1: 18). Even American society has codified in its civil codes of law the phrase “that ignorance of the law is no excuse.” It is clearly stated within the pages of God’s instruction manual the Bible, “Because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly see, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse…” (Roman 1:19-20). We know that sins committed by both heterosexuals and homosexuals that are against the word of God are condemned by God. Of course, “All scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness….” (2 Timothy 3: 16).

Individuals sin against God because they do not retain God in their hearts and minds (conscience). “Thy word have I hid in mind heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalms 119: 11). When heterosexuals and homosexuals repeatedly commit the same sins over and over again, God turns us over to a reprobate mind because it becomes a problem of indwelling sinful choices. “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to those things which are not convenient; being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whispers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understandings, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Romans 1: 28-32).

“God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” (Psalms 7:11). We have too many individuals in American society who think that they have more wisdom and common-sense than God. “When they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools….” (Romans 1:21-22). God is not confused. When each individual is conceived in their mother’s womb; God knew you, even down to the number of hairs on your head. Individuals might become confused as a result of the dictates of their family structures, churches, educational institutions or by peer group and environmental influences. But, God is not the author of confusion, but of peace as in all of the churches of saints. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1).

Therefore, men engaging in sexual acts with other men and women engaging in sexual acts with other women is strictly about maximizing the pleasure principle, not about being fruitful and multiplying (Genesis 1: 27-28). We should love each other as commanded by God, but not to the extent of having intimate sexual relations with the same-sex. “But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she lives.” (1Timothy 5:6). She in this Biblical context refers to both females as well as males. All sins are choices, not birth conditions based upon God and nature. And, of course, the wages of sin is death. Sin always ushers in spiritual death and sometimes even physical death. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6: 23). When Individuals seek to subvert God’s will, it is always a losing proposition. When men and women deliberately attempt to subvert God’s Will and slap nature in the face, it is indeed a losing proposition. Sodom and Gomorrah teaches us this profound lesson.

A God-fearing society should not embrace same-sex-marriage simply because society begins and ends with the family. No individual is born through same-sex-marriage. So goes the family, so goes society as well as the world. Parents of homosexual children should love their children, but at the same time should not ask society to take on the sins of their children. This is why God warns us: “lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.” (1 Timothy 5:22). Parents have a spiritual-moral obligation to teach their children about sexuality and gender identification (role-playing). All sins are individual choices. For example, individuals are born either male or female. Male and female are the statuses. Gender role identification is based upon socialization and environment. Consequently, a male can choose to be a man or a homosexual. A female can choose to be a woman or a lesbian. Mental temperament is not defined by sex-status (biology), but by family socialization and environmental socialization into a culture (economic responsibility). Sexuality is the “gut” and creative impulse of a community and civilized society. When sexuality is “thingified” and commercialized solely for pleasure, environmental quality of life declines and society begins to decay morally. Life is not a “freebie,” and least of all is sexuality. The story of Adam and Eve teaches this profound lesson.

American society has enough laws enacted in civil and criminal codes to protect the civil rights and civil liberties of every citizen. Therefore, we do not need to enact new laws in order to promote and legalize sin. What goes on behind closed doors should remain behind closed doors whether homosexuality or heterosexuality.

Mankind attempting to subvert the word of God is always a dangerous proposition. Individuals are waxing cold and refuse to listen to sound doctrine. God is not fooled or mocked; individuals reap what they sow. Vanity always creates societal chaos. America needs a national symbol of hope and collective integrity. Question: Can American families, Christian churches and educational institutions provide such a leadership symbol? Selah!
